CONTRAST

The Contrast Experience

A dynamic alternation between heat and cold that stimulates adaptation and creates a powerful full-body reset.

60–75 minutes
1–2 sessions per week alongside other modality work

Overview

Contrast therapy — deliberate cycling between heat and cold — produces a cardiovascular training effect that neither modality achieves alone. The alternation drives repeated dilation and constriction of blood vessels, improving vascular tone and endothelial function. Norepinephrine output is compounded across both exposures, and the subjective effect is often described as a powerful reset in both body and mind.

The Contrast Experience is our most popular combined session. It follows a structured alternation protocol — typically sauna, followed by cold plunge, followed by a recovery interval, repeated for two to three cycles. The ratio of heat to cold and the duration of each phase are adjusted depending on your experience level and the goals for that session.

This programme is suited to those who have already completed introductory cold or heat work, or those with prior experience of contrast therapy who want a clinically structured experience rather than a general spa session.

What to Expect in Clinic

Your session follows a structured protocol across two to three alternation cycles. You will begin in the sauna for a set duration, move to the cold plunge under supervision, and then rest in a recovery space before the next cycle. Your practitioner will guide pacing throughout and can adjust the protocol based on how you are responding. The session ends with a full recovery period. Most clients report an intense sense of alertness and calm in the hours following a contrast session.
